Check out this hand painted backpack I made! Years ago, students would ask me to sketch on their backpacks and whenever I did, the students thought it was the coolest thing and would show it off to all of their friends. This sparked the idea that I should try turning backpacks into fine works of art. I’ve already created a few of these with different concepts and auctioned them off to students in order to make money for the visual arts program, but for this backpack, I would like to try to sell it through my website and donate all of the proceeds to the school.
The backpack was painted with professional acrylic paints to assure that it will never fade. The leaves of the bonsai tree were created using a professional grade adhesive and marble dust to create a rough texture and set the tree apart from its background. The backpack was created in the round including the shoulder straps that have Chinese kanji painted on them with symbols related to wisdom and knowledge. It measures 15.5x 11” and is about 7” deep when full.
This one of a kind backpack is meant to be thought of as a fine work of art and will be sold for $130. All proceeds will be donated to the Visual Arts Department at Adams City High School.
